i was wondering i seearched but really no help does anyone have pics or astep by step on how to make an automatic look like a manual would love to do this please help!
What are you using? Have you picked a shifter handle and boot yet?
What do you need help doing?
I did mine and I think it looks great, if you give me a day or two I may be able to take some pics and put together a guide for you.
a standard boot can fit an auto... you just have to be a tiny bit creative, i did mine with no cutting...
can somebody post some pics please?
I just went to the junkyard and got the plate with a stock boot on it for like $5. Just popped it on and I was finished.
well i tried the junk yard and none i have a 2000 z24 and would like to see one donemaybe some instructions i really wana do this to mine
its not hard at all
1. on the side of the shift knob facing the dash, there is a little C clip, pop it out using a flat head screwdriver... do not lose it!
2. pop off the plastic surrounding the shift
3. you can either put a boot on and pop the plastic back over the boot or get a dremel and cut a square out and put the boot in that way
maybe i'm just stupied but i'm not really understanding i have taken my dash and console apart to clean it but i still don't understand.
You took your dash and console apart to put on a shift boot...?

I wrapped the plastic piece aswell, and glued it underneath.
Search.
Go to the junk yard. Find a same gen J with a manual. Yank the piece out. Insert into your car.

oh yea hes right guys! why the hell try to make something look good? Wish i had you around along time ago so i would not of waisted my money building a show car....F-ing tool.

what's even funnier is tools like this are too dumb to even realise allot of automatics on the market come with boots on them, its just a cover for the stick dork. no one is trying to pretend they have a manual.

^exactly Jason. It is just a cover to hide the huge ugly stick. It isn't a way to pretend I have a manual.
Yeah, my SUV has a boot around the shifter and it's an auto.
hey i made mine .... my son has this little leather jacket he grew out of ,,,, cut off one of the arms and black zip tied the top works great lokks awesome.... ill need to get updated pics
