I see on Wink's GP there is map pocket filler plate of diamond plate

My question is how do you put them in? Do you completely replace the carpeted part?
I took of the door panel and noticed once I took off the carpeted area, I probably wouldnt be able to put it back on...
I drill little holes in each, then put them in with wire ties. They replace the whole carpet piece.

i am planning on putting the "hook" portion of velcro tape to the back on the filler plate and letting that grab the carpet like it would the regular "loop" portion of velcro.
CHM (babybopy):
How are you going to fit the filler into the map pocket?
I already cut out a small section, and I cannot wedge it into the pocket.
Also, I took off my door panel to do it, and apparently once you remove carpet piece (by breaking the plastic holding it in), you wouldnt be able to put it back using the original method which held it on... so i dont know.
just like winks said....... take off door panel, cut plastic things off and completely remove carpet. then you have to drill holes into the diamond plate and parts of the map pocket so that you can then run a zip tie into the holes in the map pocket and the diamond plate to be able to secure the plate to the back of the door panel. that make sense?? here is a pic to give an idea of what the finished product looks like......

cavcruzn20: I understood, I just don't want to remove the carpet piece, because I may want to put it back where it is, and I don't think I could do that after I took them out...
and CHM (babyboy) said he is going to velcro the diamond plate to the carpet, and Im thinking you pretty much can't because you have to remove the carpet. And I've already tried to fit some diamond plate into the map pocket , and it was no go.... unless he cut some crazy dimensions, which id liek to know about,......
I dont have the plates yet I just ordered them through the GP, if they dont fit, they dont fit and I would be willing to take the carpet out. I was just thinking that the velcro might work. I have velcro lying around, but I also have my door panels out fiberglassing them so either way is fine with me, I was just trying to suggest something a little easier.
the plates will NOT fit in the map pocket from the front, the plates are to big to be able to fit in there that way, you must go through the back.

I see that now, with the term "insert" attached to it I figured it would go in from the front. That is why I suggested the velcro.
