Hi!
I'm in the process of painting my interior. I decided to sand all the plastic pieces to give the smooth look.
I've just finished painting my radio bezel and i noticed some "dust" stick to the paint... not much, but I'm wondering if it's possible to take this out.
Is there a way to sand the paint before the clear coat and keep it looking good?
wet sand?
It's my first time prep/sand/painting, it's why i need advice!
Thank you very much

Allow the paint to dry thouroughly, sand over the needed areas, repaint, then clear.
so you can't wet sand with 1200 grit without damaging the paint?
I would say that it depends on how many coats of paint are already there. Give it a shot, just know that if it looks dull or thin in that area to just spray over it.
NOOOOOOOOO
NEVER sand base coat and then clear... without respraying the base THEN clearing. If you're planning on respraying the base... then ok... if not... DON'T DO IT!!! I've been doing auto body and paint for years...
Or, get a tacking cloth and lightly run over the base to get the dust/dirt off.
thank you very much for the input!
finally i'm glad i redid it because it looks so much better now.
I found that i hadn't sanded enough and there was a lot of "sanding lines" left...
so I re-sanded the whole thing, re-primed, wet-sanded with 1200 grit then painted...
now it's pratically flawless!
Thank you very much!
what kind of clear coat did you use?
I used Duplicolor automotive clear coat, sold at pep boys...
