I am fiberglassing my doors and was thinking of the easiest way to get an angle for the speakers to face and i was wondering if you cut down a flower pot until you had it at the right angle then fiberglassed over it if that will work.
what do you guys think??
if you can understand that
like a platic pot turn it upside down and cut it down to the angle you want the speaker facing, then glass over top of that
i see whre your coming from but i dont know if it would work
"Official Jewish J-Body"
its hard to explain, but to me it seems like it would save time. that way you don't have to cut wood and try and mount it
a plant pot is already round and you can get any angle that you want off of it by just cutting it
It seems like a good idea... but isnt it too thin??? If it works let me know, Im planning on glassing my panels too.
No wait better yet use a crockpot (just joking). You never know, it might work. I'm sure it would be unique, keep us posted.
((I don't have a lead-foot, But i wear steel-toes.))
Sounds like a good plan. Just mount the the MDF ring around the top of the pot because you are still gonna need to mount your speaker to something. And fiberglass does not stick to plastic very well.
whoever said fiberglassin was easy
or not time consuming
...I could see it working but I would personnaly use what everyone has been for the past how many years...All up to you in the end.
well i did it, i cut down a pot to the right angle i want my speakers facing then fiberglassed it to the door. and when i checked it this morning it is as hard as a rock
i would think it would work its just replacing dowels with the pot. The fiberglass is the strength not the pot.
i used bondo to make it flow into the door. That way its doesn't have the "boxy" look to it
oh no, i drilled whole in the door and then roughed it up, then applyed around 1/4 inch around the speaker box to s mooth it into the door. Then i will propbly fiberglass over that to add strength
you definitely have to add fiberglass. Body filler (bondo) will definitely not hold it on there alone.
yeah I did it and it works like a champ I used a tuperware bowl and cut it and then saved a ton of time.
