Hello. I was just wondering if anyone who has painted there vinly dash, where to get the proper paint, and the proper gloss for it. I know you can buy dyes for it, but where do you buy the dye? Would normal paint work??

i used vinyl dye that i bought at pepboys. it came in a spray can and was about $4. it turned out really nice too. i'll see if i can find some pics
Krylon works best.... and you can buy it at Walmart for about 3 -4 bucks a can here is a pic of mine completly done.
i know that hrylon fusion works i have tired it, but it peeled off. How did you prep the krylon on the vinyl?? what type of gloss did you use??
well just scruffed it all up with a scuff pad the sprayed it then put a few coats of clear on it used krylon clear and it seams to be fine.
how do you get the wet glossy look as if it were the exterior of the car? do you need to sand everything smooth then paint and clear?

that was used on the vynal dash pad was duplicolor vynal and fabric dye and you can get it at any walmart type plce as for the hard plastic pieces sand,primer,paint,clear,,,,,,phil

I went to auto zone and bought some "vinyl & fabric color". It worked great. It came out not real glossy, but like the look of leather.

philly i as well have a 95 sunfire and would like to do something exactly like urs but w/ different colors.....on the hard plastic, what sandpaper did you use? and if i wanted to after painting, could i use a clear coat on the vinel and plastic peices?
Well..for the sandpaper I used 100,320 and then primer filled it all till it was smooth..it took a few coats but came out good...then i painted and cleared..as for the vynal no you cannot clear it as far as i know..i just sprayed the vynal dye on and voila..done...if you need sanpaper for cheap email me....dragginframe22@hotmail.com...phil
