seat question?
Friday, June 10, 2005 9:27 AM
I want to get a nice racing seat here soon. I checked out a plus and saw they had a nice pair of blue and black ones for 219 plus shipping. I was hoping someone could tell me how the quality was and how they looked in the car, and did they come with everything needed to install and fit correctly, any other seats that people may have and want me to check out let me know, dont really want to go over 500 for a pair shipped, thanks in advance.

They are good seats especially for the price. I have made some long trips 6 hrs+ and not any worse at the end than in normal seats. Mine have held up well, no complaints here, I am going to be gettin new seats shortly, unfortunate u live so far away or it would have been ok to meet, i duno how much it would run to ship, seems they charge insane amounts somtimes, i duno how companies ship hoods and seats through ups or fedex.

You will have to make brackets to attach them. I put a walkthrough on how to make some brackets somewhere, if not here is a semi condensed version on my webpage.

they arent real bad to ship 75 bucks, I just wanted to get some comments on the quality and fit before i was going to order them, Do they hold you in the seat any better the the stockers or are they mainly looks, just curious. I hope some more people write in and have a few other pics. thanks for the pic and the write up though. At the moment it is between them and the seats in summit.

The quality is good, i have not had problems with them at all, there was atleast 1 person who had a rod inside the seat break i remember, but for the money theyare not bad. For sure grip the body alot better than stock, youwont slide around near as much in corners.

I have pics on my site if yougo backwards from the instal page, just click on the interior page to see em.

One last question, I guess it safe to say that they arent too wide to fit in the car properly.

I have these seats also, I think they are about the best bang for that buck. They are only a few inches wider than stock seats, so as long as you fab the brackets right, there will be no fitment issues. I had a ball bearing fall out of one of my sliders, but other that that, they're great. They really grip your body well, like Blues said.

You're going to have to make your own brackets, no way around that unless you want to hit your head on the roof.

I'll draw the plans for my brackets in paint and post them up in a few.

OK, my brackets are welded, which is the only reason I posted it, since Blues posted his, but his are bolted.

First, I started out with 1/8" angle iron, and used that as a base, the same place Blues had his U-brackets. from there, I bolted two pieces of flat steel (1/8") to the sliders mounted on the seats. After positioning the seats on the brackets, I tacked them in place with a welder. Then, I removed the seats and unbolted the seats and sliders. After I welded the angle iron to the steel more securely, I bolted it back to the seat and put it in the car. Nothing caught fire, so as long as you have a steady welding hand or someone you trust, no problems should occur.

So, I'm too lazy to draw them, but it's just four pieces of angle iron and four pieces of flat steel.

Thanks alot for the information guys, making brackets dont bother me at all my buddy had a garage and a snap-on welder so that wont be a problem, these seem to be the seats i am going to go with. One last question what is the material they are made of.
