RPM Tach help
Monday, June 13, 2005 10:48 PM
My brother and I where wiring my Tach tonight. On the instructions it says to tap the green wire in the ignition system. Well the pig tail that clips on the distributor has the crank position sensor runing into it. Well it didnt work, so my prefessor in my automotive class said to tap it into the fuel injector sensor on cylinder 1 and it still didnt work. What else should I do. Oh by the way I have a 98 2.2 and its a APC Tach.

man that dirty ass engine bay look familiar

anyway in the last pic you see the wire coming off the coil pack. there is a 6pin harness (the one on the left) and a 2pin harness (the one on the right). off the 2 pin harness cut the pink wire. from the tach adaptor, there is a red wire and red w/ a green stripe wire. the red w/ green stripe connects to the wire that is in the harness. the red wire connects to the other end of the pink wire that goes somewhere in the engine bay

for signal tap on the white or orange.

sunstealth: get a Sunpro 3½ Tach from Canadian Tire. Readings are from 2 to 10 cylinders. I used that tach for 2 months before selling my car and it was A1.
