Removing top part of Sunfire dash?
Sunday, June 26, 2005 9:03 PM
I am hoping that my billet gauge bezel from Fire & Ice Motorsports will be waiting for me at the Post Office tomorrow, so before I get it I want to make sure I know how to remove the top part of the dash in order to install it.

I have already read through the directions on the Team Forward Motion website, however they are for a Cavalier so I just wanted to make sure that the directions are the same for a Sunfire. Also, do the air bags and/or the battery need to be disconnected? I just want to make sure I know exactly what I'm doing so I don't mess anything up two weeks before the Bash. Thanks in advance.

two screws to take off your radio shroud, then take the screw off each side of the dash where your fuse box is. these will pull off the large side panels. open up the globe box and there is a metal pice between the glove box and the dash, should be a couple of screws in it. take those out and pull the metal trim piece off, then u may have a screw hiding under it. pull your defroster vent out. there are two screws there. then pull out the trim piece that goes along the window. be careful with the clips not to scratch the top of your dash as u pull it out, then follow along that edge and you find a few more screws. then it should just lift off. u should be fine with the airbag, just be careful around it, if your a worry wort just unplug the battery and the airbag fuse before you begin. for the cluster, you will have a screw on either side of it , and then a plug in the back, unscrew and unplug it and it will pop right out. believe the cover piece on the cluster is just a snap on type fitting, so undo the snaps and the top glass piece should pop right out.

Great! Thanks for the help Jason ! Too bad my bezel wasn't at the Post Office . That has me a little worried because it was supposedly shipped out on Thursday June 16... that's been almost two weeks ago . Oh well, guess I'll see what happens. And as far as the air bag go, I think I will goes ahead and disconnect the battery and all just to be safe. Better safe than sorry. Thanks again.
