hey all,
a while back i painted some of my interior using yellow Krylon Fusion.
as much as i like do like it i have decided that i want to paint it Gunmetal instead.
i'm going to use automotive paint over the krylon fusion.... does anyone think that there might be an issue with the 2 paints? i would prep the surface... clean, sand with a Scotch Brite pad, auto primer then the gunmetal colour.
or should i sand down the whole thing and start over?
thoughts?
thanks in advance
sand it and clean very well... are u putting down primer too?

are saying that i should sand it straight down to the plastic and remove all the krylon paint first... or... use that Scotch Brite pad to take off the gloss, prime then paint?
either way i was going to primer b4 the paint
jus sand it down so that its smooth and id use adhesion promotor
if you will be using interior paint by ppg or du pont yes i would sand it all off , and start over
i am sure that if ya just scuff it and base it again it will lift and wrinkle
so ya i would start all over, no need for a adheshion promoter at all that wold cause more problems too
i know ppg makes a plastic primer i forgot the product number that it made for plastic
hope that helped
can i haz bondo
id take it all off no matter what, i mean for other spray paints u might not have to but its just always better to take it off

both big poppa and jared are absolutely correct...
dont take the chance.... do it right the first time
i was thinkin bout doin mine gunmetal as well , but i did my whole interior wite cept the top of the dash . but what i was gonna say is that it might look really close to gunmetal if u sand ur stuff really smooth and not paint it just spary some clearcoat w/ silver flakes in it , i dunno just an idea . good luck . it did look good b4 , woulda looked better if u coulda painted ur outside w/ krylon to match lol its hard to match colors of diff brands . show pick when ur done

hey guys,
thanks for your replies... well at first i thought i was doing it right.... i searched the site for how to's and what people used. so far its sticking great and there are no issues...
like others stated before... yeah the yellow doesn't match... i found out after that i could have gotten the exact yellow in a spray.
the reason why i'm going to go gunmetal instead of re doing the yellow is that i was pulled over for speeding the other day..... lets not get into that... and the officer was looking in my car and it hit me.... this is too flashy for the interior....
so the gunmetal colour was chosen because my rims and the Sunfire GT badge are both gunmetal.
the other downside to this is that since i have to remove all the paint that is currently there i will remove the stock texture that i wanted to keep.
I'll keep you all posted when i get to this after i paint some stuff in my engine bay.
u can just wetsand it, so when u lay the gunmetal down it'll come out slick and look like glass.
