I posted this in the sticky for INTERIOR but not sure anyone would see it there as it's alway on the top! Anyway, I need to know why I need the activation code to take off my steering wheel. Where do I get the code and once I have it, what do I do with it? Also, if I don't have it and I do take it off, what is the result?
Thanks and hopefully someone knows the answer!
Eh...old man with a Corvette now...it was bound to happen sooner rather than later right?
activation code?
When i removed mine, i did need one. Must be a stock alarm thing.

Ok...I read that again and even expanded my search to try and find more information and I don't think I explained things right!
I want to get out my ENTIRE dash to paint it and based on the FAQ, question 17, I need this activation code if I take out my steering wheel. I've read other post doing a search and no one has said anything about this code, except in the FAQ when Raptor did?
I want to end with this:
So, I guess my quesiton is this...do I need to have the code to take out the dash and to also put in a aftermarket steering wheel? If yes, then where is the code, what do I do with it once I have it and what is the result of not having it?
Thanks and sorry for the double posting thing but want to get an answer so I don't mess things up!

If you have Theftloc or something similar, make sure you have the activation code before disconnecting your battery.
This is what I'm trying to figure out? It's from the FAQ in this forum, item 17. I'm ready to pull the dash out and the steering wheel off, but want to make sure I don't mess things up!!

Sounds like it's just the activation code for the radio (Theftlock). You might have to have a dealer re-do it when you're back together (I would do it before putting the steering wheel on tho). Unless you have the original sticker with the activation code (I think it comes with the car when it's brand new...probably lost by now lol).
I have the original sticker
all laminated for car shows!! It's actually funny to see people read it but that's what it's there for I guess?? Anyway, any other thoughts from folks before I do this?
I'm in Germany too so a Chevy dealer is not as easy as in the states! I really would like to know this for sure before I rip it all out. It goes to the paint booth on Wednesday so guess I'll keep an eye on this and see what others have to say.
Thanks for your thoughts CharlzO.

One last attempt before I do this! Does anyone have information on this? If not, then I guess I'll be able to answer it next time someone posts this question!
Thanks!
