INSTRUMENT CLUSTER INSTALL QUESTIONS

I have a '96 base model 2.2L Cav with manual transmission, and wanted to get a tach. in my car..

..I found a cluster from a junked Cav 2.2L MT, has a tach and everything.. so I thought it would be a direct plug in and go thing, but no. I tried to start the car with the new set and it wouldn't start at all.

..I read somewhere that the tach. can only be had in the Z24 model, but this one I pulled the gauges out of was clearly not a Z24, with the 2.2L engine and no Z badges.

Is there some way I can get the gauges to work? Like swap the circuit boards or something... I really want to have a tach. and trip mileage indicator, and I don't want to buy an aftermarket tach.

Why won't the instrument cluster I bought work?!?!

Check the FAQ at the top of the page, it has instructions on what you need to do to get your car to run. Also, Tachs were not only in Z24's, they came in many different models.

Start the car and let it die, leave the key in the on position for a few minutes, then turn it off and repeat again two more times. This resets the theft lock and should allow your car to start.

Ah yes, I thought you meant the FAQ on the left side link thing, I didn't see the actual thread in this forum..

My bad, I get it.. I'll see if I can make the cluster work tomorrow, sounds like it'll work.

Thanks
