Oooh spot painting. What a great idea... let's all polka-dot our cars with tremclad color!

100% guarantee you'll hate it within a year....

Try to sit down and come up with a full color scheme and paint the interior properly, not one vent at a time. It ends up looking cheap and unprofessional.

Why else do you think you don't see multicolored spots of color from any factory cars? It looks retarded.

Have you seen the interior of a 2000+ sunfire in charcoal grey yet?

5 different colors of grey on the doors, 3 on the dash.

Everyone but Chris - cute.

Hey you asked for opinions, I hold nothing back

take their advice on the dye for the vinyl parts... paint will hold up somewhat but what most don't realize is the heat of summer REALLY puts a beating on the paint and when it gets that hot and you have flexible material, it eventually breaks down.

If you're dead set on paint use a flex primer underneath the paint to try and make it hold up.

Most people's arm rests that are painted usually hold up for a while and then start developing random cracks and chips. It's very hard to prep soft vinyl to take paint while flexing.

And if that's how you want it painted - go nuts. It's your car. I simply gave the opinion you were asking for. If you want people to just say good things then say that! Whenever I post pictures I always tell people to hold nothing back, I take all opinions in the highest regard whether I want to hear them or not.

Lastly, what I was trying to say about planning out the interior - cavy and sunfire interiors actually have a LOT of nice lines in terms of paint schemes. I personally used the lower half of the dash, much like most high end sports cars do to give the sporty feel... I was wary about painting high traffic areas such as the centre console or the arm rest due to paint fade/chipping so I didn't do it as much as I might have wanted to.

Sit down and get a good look, you might find something you really like. If you're going to go with silver I'd suggest really planning it out because tri-tone interiors are tough to pull off sometimes... the problem with painting an interior is you really only get ONE good paintjob out of it, because after that you start losing the texture of the dash and the paint layers build up pretty quick.

Also, do yourself a favour - if you really really like the colors you have used buy 2-3 extra cans of paint and keep them in a safe, dry, cool place. Over time you will DEFINITELY scuff/chip/scratch the paint and you'll have to do a touchup here and there... the color i used for my interior is no longer produced so I'm VERY fortunate to have 3-4 spare cans on the shelf, otherwise I'd have to do it all from scratch.

I hope, at the very least you're more keen with THIS advice, although I don't change my opinion. I am not a fan of spot-painted interiors.

Good luck and have fun. Remember - ADHESION promoter, and use high-temp clearcoat if you need to use it. The car gets bloody hot in the summer and the standard clearcoat I used the first time around got tacky and I had to fix a lot of stuff because of it.

I did all the prep work with primer and actually my dad is a painter so he knows how to do it the right way so it last. Thank you for being a bit nicer this time in your post ... and i'm sorry if i was a b*tch but you were kind of a jerk.... I have extra can's and this was just a test run .... I'm still not sure what colors to go with.... thanks again for your comments.

if done right the paint shouldn't be flaking off, dye on spots will wear after a year or two. but i just pulled mine out and resprayed them on a saturday afternoon and they were good for another year. once its time to change it u can pick up pretty much a complete interior from most junkyards for around 100 bucks. just take your time and clean the area well. thats most peoples mistake is not cleaning the piece properly.
