i was just wondering if anyone has any suggestions on how to change the light gray roof color to black. i really dont want to reupholster it, but if i must i will. is there a dye for it? ive seen spraypaint for cloth and vinyl. would that work? and how much of a mess would it make spraying it inside the car like that?

yes you can use the vinyl/fabric dye. The head liner comes out pretty easy. Its held in with some pop in clips. I did mine black too!!!

If you want another opinion...I would sijmply reapolster it. It really is quite easy. I did mine in about two hours and that includes removing and reinstalling the headliner. It will cost you avout $30 dollars for the material (go to an apolster shop and buy headliner material...thin foamed backed and somewhat stretchable). Another $7 for spray adhesive (3M -90). Works and looks better than OEM.
mine's black suede cost a little more than headliner fabric but it goes on right over the stock headliner
If I wanted to take mine some place and have it done where would I go?
Better question where would can I get the dye for this and is it really that hard to do?
thanks everyone!...i did it the other day. i got the spray dye and it came out very well. i did the headliner and the visors black and left the sunroof cover gray, but i might dye that too.
