Soooo, how do you do it? Most cars are just zipped in but it sure as heck looks like they glued the fabric right to the frame. I have this big chunk of metal on the right side of my driver's seat jabbing me right in the back and I want to remove the fabric to fix the problem but don't know how to get the fabric off. Yes, I have searched and came up with nothing. Help? And thanks!
haha, i have the exact same problem in the same spot. it usually doesn't bother me unless i move around or try to change positions in my seat. its really hard and painful if i sit back on it though. I have no idea what it is!
Yes....... I know that's not a lizard.
it's a chevy screw-up?
try new seats?? i believe the cavalier fabric WAS glues to the seats... if it's a HUGE problem... then just buy some new seats... somethin like racing seats
^^^ sure, if anybody wants to front me the money for new seats, that would be great. However, I have a house and family to provide for, so I have to jerry rig something - cheap - thus my question on how to remove the fabric.
They are definately glued down, but can be pulled off. Mine (99 sunfire) has a plastic tab at the bottom of the seat that needs to be seperated and then you need to run your hand up inside the fabric or you'll rip off big chunks of foam in the process.
I had the exact same prob.... only thing that saved me was it happened under 30k. dealership fixed mine...I am guessing that I will have that prob again...oh say around 101k. just as my warranty runs out. thats always the way. But as far as i can figure it aint too complicated to fix. The dealership had the car a half day and it said an hour labour on the invoice. If it took an hour under warranty than i figure it took like 5 min max. As far as getting new seats goes, I think all cavis have this prob so unless you buy aftermarket don't bother. let me know how it goes, i figure i'll need the know how in about 50k, LOL.
i had the same problem, didn't have a problem getting the fabric off though, louisianna heat heloped alot breakin down the glue. turned out the backing on the seat, cross-weaved metal, had come off the worthless welds from the factory. I tacked it back together and wrapped it in duct tape, yes i'm serious, haven't had the problem again and has hella lumbar support.
i still hate my seats.
well, this helps get me some ideas - like looking for seats at the junkyard from another vehicle and doing some rail fabrication. Thanks.
