Alright, so heres the deal. I was painting my doors and i forgot that the top piece is vinyl or w/e. Well i painted it...not with like the dye but with like...the fusion stuff and its all sticky and i was wondering if theres anything i can do to like, make it not sticky, or get the paint off and try again with dye, or if i have to buy a whole new door panel or what...any help is appreciated...guess i shuda read that guys faq before hand...

well im gonna say that your best off getting a new door panel but some other people on here might know a few tricks to salvage your vinyl
if its on the door panel its that fuzzy carpet stuff, not vinyl. try soaking with paint thinner to loosen the paint. worked for me when i got paint on my back seat.
but im still of the opinion that you're better off just getting a new panel and starting over.
^^^^ dont speak unless you know what your talking about
on older 3rd gen cavs the top half of the door panel was vinyl and the bottom half was plastic. hes not talking about the carpeted arm rest. hes talking about the vinyl on the top of the door panel. if he had painted the carpeted arm rest then it would not be tacky at all..it would harden the carpet and make it feel like your resting your arm on sandpaper that has thumb tacks sticking out of it
im not saying i was right but theres no reason to be an ass about it.
well you could have pointed chris in the wrong dirrection and he could have gone and gotten a new door thinking you were right. You wernt even close and you didnt show any sign of acting like you might be wrong in your post so you were saying you wernt wrong. And its not that this is serious or anything but if this had been suspension or something with the engine and he listened to miss information he could have ruined his car, spent money he could have saved, or worse yet hurt himself or someone.
ex. someone tells someone they can cut springs or heat them and be safe... the spring snaps, car looses control, guy crashes. So the guy who crashed, clueless to it being unsafe, gets hurt or dies because some ass hole didnt care or thought they had the cheap answer.
or like those electric fans on ebay that promise to be like superchargers. THEY DONT DO A THING and can break and harm the engine.
ANYWAYS... i got a little overboard lol. Not trying to bag on anyone because im not perfect and im sure you were just trying to help...
but about your problem chirs... way back in the day i painted my center arm rest in my sunfire with fusion not knowing it wasnt going to stick to something not plastic. I got it off with plain ol paint thinner and scrubbing. It looks fine. I might have been lucky tho. but since your wanting to still color it the dye would probably cover up any color loss. And then you wont have to buy a new door or spend the time getting one at the yard. Good luck, have fun...

Yep, just like Jared did I painted mine this past week and they were really tacky so I used paint thinner and a rag and just took my time and wiped it off. I had sanded it smooth first though. Came off clean and actually doesn't look too bad sanded smooth and the normal colour. Good luck man, hope it works out for ya.

It's a four banger, you gotta bang it four times to get it goin'....
right on, i took paint remover to it and it came right off, looks like it did before
good stuff, only costed me about 2 bucks hah instead of like a gajillion for new doors
