All I used on my knobs was spray paint. It worked fine. I just sprayed the back instead of the front. I have read on here that people use stained glass paint. I went looking for this and couldn't find it so I had to settle for regular paint...3 very light coats. But the yellow tinge the HVAC lights them selves have (like all incandescent bulbs) make them look a tiny bit green.
Oh well...until I get up the energy to rip it all apart and replace all the bulbs with led's I'll live with it.

Well since you think your einstein and have the right to call other people dumb asses I will call you the biggest dumb ass of all. Those are stock knobs you idiot. They just took the rubber part off. Thats what color they are underneath. No paint was used to make them red. Sure shows how smart you are.
Also people might want to keep their stock knobs for when they sell the car. And the dealer probably don't sell just the knobs, you will need to buy the entire HVAC control panel.
So please don't come on here thinking your some inteligent person because it clearly shows that your not.

nah i was just makin a point but i guess spray paint will work. i just figure it would be too thick to show the light through.... never thought about light coats i guess.

about the knobs though, not everyone is into cars. not everyone knows how simple they can do it yourself. around here i have to drive over 50 miles to hit a yard with a J in it. and i know there won't be knobs there cuz everyone pockets them. look at it this way too. people go crazy when black corners hit ebay and buy them in a snap. do you realize all you have to do is take your stock one's about, rip the amber film off and paint them black and you have the same thing. it's all just the way you look at things.
on a side note, i was actually a while ago thinking of selling a bunch on ebay. that and grill inserts for 95-99 z24 bumpers.
