Removing Carpet Help
Saturday, September 17, 2005 2:30 PM
Ok, so i have everything out of the way in my interior, EXCEPT the passenger seatbelt latch. This is attached to the car using a torx bit, and for the life of me, i cannot get it lose, and have started to strip it. What i was attempting was to cut a hole in the carpet big enough to slide it over the latch. What do you guys recommend? How have you guys gotten the passenger seatbelt latch off or removed? This is a real bugger. Any tips would be appreciated

Use a Torx socket and rachet and take it off that way. The leverage will make it easier (not saying it is easy to take off to begin with). I think I have something like a T-55--I'm not sure since I'm not at my house right now. I will tell you the socket I used was not an exact fit, but pretty close. Just use some muscle!

be really careful about stripping that bolt once you do itll never come out. try some good ol' wd-40 on it a couple of times first. or if you striped it vise grips will work. dont try to drill it out it takes HOURS.

if you need anymore help let me know i went through the same prob with an 89 beretta... TWICE.

in the future get the bit.. put it in hammer it down a little bit.. get a breaker bar.. and a hollow pole if needed that will be plently of leverage to get it lose.. or u can just cut the carpet lol
