Shift Boot Help
Sunday, September 18, 2005 3:00 PM
I have a '96 Cavalier and I recently bought a new shift boot and knob. I got the knob installed with no problems, but how do I install the boot? I know I'm supposed to take off the plastic piece holding it on, but after that will it just snap back on or will I need to glue it or something?

the stock e-brake handle won't come off easily...you will need to cut it off, and saw at it. I used a hack saw to remove mine.

^ haha ya sorry, i was out of it that day...

you mean the plastic part that holds the shifter boot in place correct? You should be able to pop the plastic part off, and then there will be a metal clip underneath holding the stock boot in place...

I don't remember exactly, b/c i just sewed my own boots, and i got a little creative on how to attach it.

Thanks for your help, but I figured out how to do it about 2 hours after I started this topic.
