Ok, after 5 attempts at redoing a headliner I finally got this one to work. I still have some finishing touches to complete it, but otherwise this is how it will look, just need to clean up some rough edges and also use some vinyl repair material to fix a few areas that just did not quite get cut right.... Before I even get that nice reply as to this post is useless with out pics! Here is a pic of it, it was night when I got it done but anyway..... on to the pic!

it is all vinyl, the white in the middle of the flames are from the flash of the camera. Thanks for all the opinions. I know it is not the greatest but for my very first time trying something custom and learning quite a bit from it I think it came out fairly well. Keep the comments coming either good bad, or unbiased.

i think the idea is neato! i would of spred out the flames a bit more, and made them more curvy(sp). I love flames, and any thing metal
,and i think its an awesome idea you've cooked up!

You done well daniel-son. You'll never learn how to do things unless you try, even if the first time isn't exactly what you wanted.

hey man first time is always the hardest but hey thats how ya learn (most peeps pay to have someone else do it ) and then brag about the car ...no matter what it looks like feel good that you did it good work man.....

Props on the work man, props.
Looks good. From what I can tell in the pic, the vinyl looks tight to the backing board, a little trim up and should fit well. The symmetry is there.
One critique to possibly improve the style:
The flame design needs a bit of rework. I would have gone with an old-skool design, rather than having 2 flame stalks. You can still maintain the symmetry, but this re-work will look alot better.
Looks pretty good imo. I'd love to see a pic of it in the car though.
I think the idea is awesome man. JMO on the flames, fewer "branches" on the flame stalks and curve the flames a bit more and extend a little further back.
Since your goin with the blue flames on the headliner i am anxious to see what your gonna do to the rest of your interior (with the flames)...if you plan to

...are you trolls that dumb that you cant realize mid 15s is slower then 14s?
Looks good keep up the good work
thata a lot of vinyl, let just PRAY it doesnt droop, when your custom headliner droops after all that work its like a kick right to the coin purse
Well, hopefully it won't droop because I spent 3 of those 5 tries with just black vinyl and it drooping because of using the wrong adhesive. This time I went with the permatex headliner and fabric adhesive which is high heat resistant, etc. As to the flames on other parts of the car... I have a few ideas in my head.. like redoing the side panels where the carpet would be with black vinyl and blue flames and also the rear seat is removed for a rear seat delete but have yet to get to working on the frame and everything for the boards and such to mount amps, etc to. I think I might try to cover the boards with some kind of flames pattern but not sure if I would like it in vinyl or the stock type of carpeting on the floors but with blue and black and flames. Still throwing a few idea around. As to update on the headliner, I just used a vinyl repair kit to fill in a few small gaps that showed up after the adhesive dried and will probably be working on the final step of that putting the color match stuff down to smooth out the line where the vinyl colors meet as well as working on making some sun visors out of wood to prepare for a future project of screen mounting. As soon as I can get the headliner finished and some more pics taken I will post them ASAP. I also redid my dome light cover as well to go along with my flame theme so I will post pics of that once I get time to get more pics, probably wensday since I will be working today.

Ok, just got the headliner in the car tonight but was way to dark to get pics, it came out ok, not the greatest but it will do for my first attempt till I get better at doing it. I ran into a few small problems after trying to get it back into the car. First was that it was not very stiff like the carpeted was, it was a bit flimsy and made it a bit harder to reinstall, second problem came about because of the first, the middle area where there is really nothing holding up the headliner other than the stiffness started sagging down, not the vinyl but the whole headliner because of the weight. I managed to solve that problem by running a small wire up and around the middle cross brace in the roof and to the headliner to help hold it where it would normally be, hopefully tomorrow I can get some installed pics of it, but with work might have to wait till sunday till I can get some pics without all the nice rain we have been having here all week. Soon as I can get pics I will get some daytime pics as well as night shots of the dome light cover as well.
