I have a 1997 cavalier with manual windows and have been hating them for years. I saw these kits on EBAY and was wondering if you think they will work? ANyone tried these? i figure for $70 bucks its worth a try but I would hate to buy them and find out they go slow or break in a few days. Please let me know if anyone has tried these or knows if they work well! Thanks for the help!

Does the SPAL kit actually get rid of the little knobs, I heard that most kits you still have the little metal knobs sticking through the panel and then you just stick a cover on top of them. And does anyone know about what this kit runs?

and yes you have the attachement of the motor that sticking about a 1inch out of the
door panel, soo you need to put a cap that is include in the kit....

One of my buddies had a SPAL kit in his 1988 Camaro. Worked great. Yes, he did have a cap on the window handle post.

I was going to get the SPAL kit but then saw it didnt come with switches and they wanted a lot ore for switches. Also checked out the AUTOLOC kit and it said it was supposed to be as fast as STOCK, so who knows. I went with the autoloc for the cheaper price. But I will post those pics when I have it installed.
I agree it willl suck having the knob stocking out but the fact is I'll have power windows! It will be worth it for shure! -Kyle

i got a window motor off ebay once...it was junk, too slow..the plug in was too loose, i had to use some adheasive to keep it on...the instalation sucked because i didnt have a big enough rivit gun

i bought my spal kit from ebay for about 87 bucks w/o the switches i bought the stock switches for about 40 bucks. so far no problems and the windows are not slow at all they are faster than my sis 01 cav and my friends 98 eclipse......if u do get them hit me up and i can help u install them.....

i have the autoloc kit...slow as balls. Literally about 15-20 secs for them to go up

i should be able to use the same switches, so they won't be necessary

No one has paid for the kits yet, but I think I have them sold. The kits will NOT work for existing power windows. They connect to the crank gear that the manual window handle goes on, since this is missing in the stock power windows, it's a no go.
if you've already killed a few motors on 1 window, I would guess that you are binding up somewhere, clean the tracks and use some grease on them to make sure things are sliding. Also, you might want to consider just replacing the regulator if it's got some bent or rough spots on it.

i'm waiting to grease my tracks, after i tint my car....... i don't want the tint to be layed over grease......
plus i'm looking to see if i can just pick up a new track.....
right now, i just have to raise my window in two stages
iat first i go as far as the bottom corner and the window meet, and then the rest of the way.....
i got my timing just right when i'm going home, since i still have to go trhough a gate
