dynamat in the back dash

What's up everyone. I had an idea and I am at the crossroads on it. Okay, here is the lowdown. I installed some 6X9's. I had to mount them from the bottom because I could not get them to fit through the top. They sound really good but they rattle when I come across some really hard bass. I was thinking about putting some dynamat back there. I really do not know how thick dynamat is but I want to be able to put my back dash back in with out any problems (not being able to fit, etc.). Has anyone installed dynamat in their back dash? I had thought about removing the cardboard altogether and just putting the dynamat back there, cut out speaker holes and covering it in black cloth or vinyl (I covered the back dash in my 81 Firebird Formula with vinyl and it looks great). Any suggestions or advice are appreciated.

Is it the dash or the speakers rattling? If it's the speakers the dynamat will have to be put between the speakers mounting edge and the metal part of the dash the speaker is mounted to.

It is the metal rattling when I have some bass playing. I was going to cover the metal with dynamat but will it be to thick to put the back dash in?

It shouldn't be any thicker than top mounting the 6X9's. So it should fit just fine since the dynamat is designed to go behind your cars interior panels and under the carpet, headliner, etc.

i have the exact same setup
the dynamat is easy to install. and if you get the stock mounting rings for the 6x9's they'll fit right on top like normal. mine is covered in black vinyl with the speaker grills out. (you wont be able to hear the speakers through the vinyl) its pretty easy. any questions feel free to ask

you have tons of space between the metal rear deck and the hard cardboard cover. i have over 3 layers of damping material and 1 1/2" thick acoustical damping foam on my rear deck.

I am going to try and tackle this project this weekend. I will keep everyone posted on the results.
