2000 Cavy Power Window Switches swap with Sunfire

Hi guys,

I have a 2000 Cavalier Z24 coupe with power windows. The switches are located in the center console. I've swapped most of my lighted interior parts with Sunfire ones to get the red glow without having to change bulbs (gauge cluster and HVAC panel). I want to the power window switches next.

I know the swap will work, but I just want to make sure that the Sunfire power window switch panel will match my center console. I have the kind of black/blue/grey plastic interior, and the buttons themselves are really black and stand out against the interior plastic. I know sometimes Sunfire buttons are more of a gray, and the plastic a deeper black.

So, again, I just want to make that if I pop a set of Sunfire switches in, that the color/shade of plastic and buttons will go with the rest of my Cavalier. Do the two parts look identical? Anyone have any experience with this?

While I'm at it, I have the same question for the blinker arm and wiper control arm on either side of the steering wheel (I need to replace those as well - really scratched and faded). Reason I ask is that if I find a Sunfire coupe that has all this stuff at a junkyard, I'd like to just buy it all from the same car without having to go scouting for a Cavy for the blinker and wiper arms. Not a big deal though...

Thanks for any help.

Well, I answered my second question. According to gmpartsdirect.com, the Cavy/Sunfire have the same part number for the blinker arm and wiper control arm.

The power window switches have different part numbers (not surprising, considering they glow different colours), so I'm still curious about how identical they are besides the glow. According the gmpartsdirect, the Sunfire ones are almost twice as much money ($60 plus shipping) and considered a special order. They must be more rare. Hopefully I'll have more luck at a salvage yard.

Anyway, still looking for confirmation on the power window switches if anyone knows.

Thanks again.

*bump*

Could anybody with a 2000 Sunfire GT coupe with power windows post pics of their power window switches located in the center console? This would probably answer my question as well.

Thanks

Here's a picture that shows the power window switches in my '02 Sunfire GT. They're light grey. As you said, I believe the ones in Sunfires are usually light grey and the ones in Cavaliers are usually black.

Its the same panel and everything. If you are worried about the surrounding panel not matching....Pop the switches out of your cavalier one and put the Sunfire switches in there place. Just as a neat fact, a set of 95-99 cavalier/ Sunfire power window switches will fit in the 2000+ plastic surround. I had to put my 98 Z24 in my 2001 Console for a while because the 2001 switches were screwing up.
