I am about to paint my interior as a winter project and I'm looking for inspiration.
I've seen some REALLY bad painted interiors and some absolutely amazing work. My issue is that I want it to look as close as possible to fiberglass - so.... that's why I'm hoping that you all can help me out!!!
Yes... I've searched and yes... I already have a few pics, but I went to darknights and saw the BEST non-fiberglassed interior and I SWEAR it looked fiberglassed... it was awesome (and on a sunfire
)
Thanks
It looked fibreglassed because it was sanded smooth, then painted, its the most cheapest and fastest way to turn your interior into the " fibreglassed look "
I went to Darknights also, which Sunfire was it? What color? Was it black with red flake?
If so thats BummerZ, he's on the org....
WHAA HAAPEN?!
No it was a white and Blue Sunfire. The interior was insane. He said it took him an entire summer, but my lord - it was worth it!
yeah WONDERMIXX... it was actually your post that inspired me to start this process... I'm still amazed at the quality you did.
i was entered in darknights too
however I don't think that was me you were reffering too
what color car was it? I might know who you were talking about...you know where abouts the sunfire was parked?

WONDERMIXX: You've already sent me the instructions, but thanks again for the offer!
Big Poppa and BuMmRz: You both have crazy sweet interiors! But the sunfire I was referring to had a white dash and interior and blue accents. But once again, you both have sick interiors. Did you both only sand and paint? and how long did it take?
Are you all just sanding the skins, then priming/painting, or are you caking on the primer then sanding/painting it?
i got a primer filler, covers the design it has, was easier than sanding everything down.

But it is possible to do it either way, I'm guessing?
yeah its posible, or u can sand everything down, and then spray that filler on it, u'll get the same thing. but u see if u sand it down, when u rub on it, it feels like rubbing a piece of paper, and when u do it with the filler, it feels diff, like fiberglass!

mines high build primmer and sanding then house of kolor paint and metal flake as for the car your talking about his interior is full fiberglass so you looking at a whole differetn game there
oh i know that guy...he has a white sunfire, blue grill in the front bumper.
his dash and parts are not fiberglassed, he said he just used many layers upon layers of primer.
he has the lambo doors, and the 3d retro tails but the fins are shaved, he has the vinyl headlights aswell...
his name is Chris..not sure if he's on the org.
Yeah Bib Poppa, That' s the car!!! It's absolutely amazing the work he did. He was the 1st person to give me the thought. At first I had actually given up on painting the interior because I have seen many crappy jobs out there and i didn't wanna wreck myy ride (especially since I'v enever done this before). but this dudes interior was flawless and all elbow grease...
fo to cardomain hes like hte 3rd one down on it nice car not into white at all and i thought he said it was fiberglass
heres two of mine, not the best at the best resolution but in the first one when the interior is blue u can see the reflection off the floormat on the glovebox door. gives you a good indication of how good it looks, ive had people ask me if my dash was metal before. second pic is the current state wich was a half way decent pic. i lost all my other pics of the car.

sndsgood: How did you do the vinyl on the upper dash??? That is the exact color scheme i'm gonna do in my car.

sndsgood,
What was the name of the brand of vinyl dye you used on the black on your interior?

for the black i just used i believe its dupli color vynal dye from autozone. seems to hold up as well as the blue dye i used from folia-tec. you just have to be sure you get the parts extremely clean. ive had a couple flaking issues on the a-pillars but im pretty sure if was the fact that they were from the junkyard and it was two days before the bash and they didnt get cleaned good enough before i quickly sprayed them. thinking this winter everything black vynal is going to get done in black suede instead.
