Are the HVAC control knobs and radio an easy swap or is some modification needed?

I mean putting the knobs above the radio. Like some guys have done on here

i think you have to use dash components from a 00+ Cav IIRC, Sunfires have the HVAC below the Radio, so its easier to access IMO.

00+ Cavaliers have HVAC below the radio also, I believe if you want HVAC above the radio you need parts from a 95-99. To do that you have to take the top pad off the dash and then take the plastic bezel off. Not hard, but not super easy either if you don't pay attention to what your doing.

you have to replace the whole dash to do a direct swap. dash carrier, pad, face panel, and you have to pull the steering wheel.

wait....so in order to use a 96-99 radio bezel on a 00-02, you have to swap the whole dash area? this seems unecessary for some reason.....I would think it would be as easy as just relocating the hvac and the radio......

^ nope because the inside shell of the dash is set up for the hvac and radio for where they are. if you have an aftermarket you can do some custom work to make it work without swapping the whole dash though. just need to make some kind of custom case/brackets for the hvac and radio since the radio would then be in the small opening and the hvac would be in the large.

^^^YEP, you can do it with some cutting and braceing but for a direct swap its a PITA

Yup, there is the metal support brace behind the dash. When you go to put the cd deck there, the brace is in the way(not deep enough). I was going to do the swap until I foudn that out.
