removing panel

okay, this might sound like the stupidest question. how do i remove the front panel so i can paint it? the part that goes around the radio and the hvac and up over the gauges and the left side of the sterring wheel. a few nights ago, we tried to take it off to wire the remote for my subs and i almost snapped it in half trying to get it off, the whole right side is clipped and so is most of the left side, but the part over the gauges just wont come out. im really kinda stumped. i just wanna paint it but i dont wanna half to wreck it and buy a new one...

You'll have to remove the upper dash pad in order to get that piece out.

As you said, the right hand portion of the plastic bezel is merely clipped in (you
just need a flathead screwdriver to gently pry around the edges until it pops out).

However.....

The left hand potion of the bezel (which goes around your instrument cluster) is clipped and also has 3 retaining screws holding it in.

When you take your dash pad off, look straight down onto your plastic bezel from above and you'll see where the screws are that need to come out. There's also an electrical connector that needs to be unplugged. Follow the wires from your dimmer switch and cigarette lighter and you'll see the connector that I speak of.

Hope this helps!

Yeah, it's always fun to take that piece out. Gotta remove the entire top of the dash. There are screws on the right side of the dash, left side of the dash(must remove the side panels), on the top(defrost vent), and in the glove box(look near the top and far back in a hole). I think there are a couple screws there. Have fun.

yeah if yeah click on my name you'll see the dash i did it the wrong way i left the top dash on and removed (some of the screws) and before you know started tugging then pulling i was losing it i all most broke it in half aswell when it did come out i ripped the vinyl top half which in my case was ok cause i'm glassing it anyways but ya tale the time and do it right in the end your not going to have any rattles from broken pieces #2 use 120-180 grit sandpaper to smooth the ruffness out any more grit are less you'll have ether more work sanding are a lot of priming and still bad scratchs and bumps good luck show us some pics later
