Does anyone know what years had the 3 speed automatic clusters with tachometers? I've been looking for ages since apparently the 3 speed auto cluster from a 97 sunfire will not fit the 97 cavalier I currently have
i don't think 3 speed autos ever came with tachs. i have a 97 3 speed auto and i swapped in a cluster from a 97 z24, and now i have a tach. just find a z24 cluster from the same year and swap it in. its plug and play, no need to do any wiring.
^^ Untrue. My '99 Cavalier came with a tachometer and it is also a 3-spd auto (much to my chagrin).
I'm not sure what other years did or did not come with a tach.
I was under the impression that all years had the tachometer as an option, but it did not necessarily come standard with every Cavalier made.

Are you sure about this? As long as the odometers match (digital or analog) I'm pretty sure that a '97 Sunfire Cluster will replace a '97 Cavalier cluster with no modifications.
Maybe I'm talking out of my ass now....do a search and you'll find a million previous posts have been made about this topic already. You should be able to find your answer there.
