I just bought a XM Roady2 receiver, where is a good spot for a permanent location? I have it mounted to my vent right now, but I'm lookin for a better spot. Any suggestions?

I have my sirius reciever is right by my a pillar, right above the vent. mine came with a stand That has 3m tape on it but i didnt stick it to my dash. i sild it in where the dash pad meets the gauge bezel.

One of the BEST things to do with the XM radios is to buy a VSM (Vehicle specific mount). The exact mount can be found at www.myradiostore.com . It will mount the roady 2 on the right hand of the radio, in that gap next to the glove box. Simple install (I need to get mine) by removing the screws inside the glovebox that let you remove the pad, and it slides right in there, using the factory screws/mounting points. Also, you can check out Circuit City and probably buy one of those cupholder mounts if you dont' mind giving up one of your front cup holders. Those are pretty sweet too.

Not the roadie, but slightly larger I believe. I just used a random bracket I had in my basement, lifted the top part of the dash and slipped it over the edge next to one of the clips in the top. And yes, it slightly touches the corner of the one air vent, but it still swivels and doesn't cause problems. Best place I could come up with where I could still see it easily, but it didn't interfere with anything else like vents/cupholders/airbags...

It shouldn't be too hard to find something at a hardware store. Just see if you can find something that comes close to the screw holes in the back of your radio dock thing. If you can't find something close, just drill out the holes where you need them in the bracket. I used some thick foam type "tape" on the bottom side of the bracket where I pinched it in the dash, so it doesn't vibrate or rattle. All the wires from the unit and the dock (for power/antenna) run up the backside and into the dash at the same point where the bracket attaches, so everything looks clean. I could prolly get some more detailed pics if you actually wanted them.

Thanks man, I'm gonna hit up home depot later. I got mine just resting in the cupholder right now.
