I'm sure you've all encountered this problem: I have a '98 Cavi RS, and the dash squeaks and rattles like crazy. The "squeaking" sound only happens until the car warms up a bit, and is the most annoying because it's pretty much constant, not just when going over bumps. Do any of you know what I can do to fix this? I've thought trying to tighten everything down when I take the top of the dash off when I install my chrome trim rings on my gauges. Do you think this is going to do any good, or should I see about putting some kind of a damping material in there to reduce vibration?
Say no to crack!
Every Cavy dash rattles. Usally because of cracks in the dash (not just the top peice, but the whole damn bloody dash.) You can't always see the cracks. It's the cracks that are hiddin seem to cause the most noise. I'm thinking maybe you bumped the dash and a crack got shifted a little to where it makes more noise than before.
yeah i found my top part of the dash cracked in three places when i took it off and i took it off slow and carefully ? i reinforced it with glass but i just know theres going to be more as i go along try foam and two way tape foam! but drive around with the dash off ya might hear the rattle better and maybe find out where its coming from
