@!#$ GM
Okay, now that I got that out
. After swapping in a WHOLE NEW dash assembly without ANY CRACKS I get screwed over once again.
However I won't complain, as this dash is still 4647891374x structurally sound than the old one, but this is unreal.
This crack has originated out of nowhere, yes, it has no source what-so-ever, though I imagine it will make it's way to the mounting point. I even used rubber like washers and I sure as hell didn't overtighten them as I suspected that being the cause of the first dash's death.
A moment of silence please, as it has begun-
that's @!#$ up doctor....
Now that sucks. The SF dash is supposed to be a lot better.
Take the nut off so that it stays that small.
put in a sunfire dash, the 03 + are nice, lol. also its about 1412341324x easier getting to your head unit, lol

yeah but you have to take into consideration that he would have to swap out the
entire dash which would mean removing the steering wheel and also he would
have to swap to the sunfire door panels...might not be worth it to him...

It's a small bolt, and the crack is 4" above the mounting point, so it's beyond help now.
Once it starts, vibration/movement only adds to it.
hell when i got my 00 earlier this year there was no crack in it, 2 days after i loosened that damned bolt i was crossing the tracks on 13 mile by groesbeck and bam, a big
@!#$ crack
buy a Sunfire.... the pad is plastic, and easily comes off.
did you adjust the frame on the dash? i bet thats the problem. I've owned 2 cavaliers, both haven't done it, second one i swapped in an 00+ dash, and tightened the @!#$ outta it and nothing
1998 Chevrolet Cavalier
5-spd
i use some dynamat on the underside of the plastic piece (that cracks), then used some more dynamat on the metal part of the car, metal frame, and used two of those pads that are on the underside of the plastic dash piece. it is very quiet and will never crack again
owned the cav for 5 years, not one crack in my dash. guess im lucky

You referring to the metal support bar? Nothing really to adjust, and the dash lined right up with all of it.
I'm not complaining, just sharing my luck.
