how do you take the stock steering wheel off
and put an after market one on

Removal, approximate time 1 hr and a couple of your favorite beverages.
1) Remove airbag fuse. Wait 30 minutes, enjoy a beverage.
2) Remove airbag. There should be 2 bolts on the back of the steering wheel, one on either side, holding the bag in.
3) Carefully unplug the airbag from the harness. Holding the "leather" panel
away from you, place face up on a table. Enjoy beverage.
4) Loosen and remove center nut on steering wheel. Don't forget to unplug horn.
5) Using a steering wheel puller, remove wheel.
To Install approximate time varies depending...
1) You will need a hub adaptor appropriate for the aftermarket wheel you are installing.
2) Install hub adaptor.
3) Connect horn plug, install wheel.
4) Enjoy
searching helps

just remember if you put a aftermarket wheel on, not only do you lose the drivers side air bag but the passenger side one also since they are on the same fuse
where can i get a hub adapter i thought i had one but i guess it was just a quick release

Jason has a GP going for Momo adaptors and wheels. depends what wheel you get to know which adapter to get though
theres 6 hole(Momo hub)
or 5 hole(grant hub)

I pulled fuse and went to town when swapping out my dash, I spent 2 hours on the whole thing maybe including removing the airbags. Sorry but I feel some people are way too paranoid when it comes to the airbag aspect. Better safe than sorry I suppose?

I am acutally quite fortunate in my case.... when I first got my Fire, the steering wheel was appearing to be not centered, so I thought it was the alignment... got that checked, and it was fine. So recentered the steering wheel. Didn't pull the fuse (didn't know at the time that I should have) and didn't face the airbag away from me when I was moving it to the table. Set it down upside down, and *pop* damn thing just went off randomly and shot a good 10-15 feet in the air or so. Fortunately, I had access to a spare driver's side bag and quickly learned my lesson to follow instructions with something potentially hazardous like that.
theres a tool called a "steering wheel puller?"
that sucks, where am i suppose to get that? how much would that cost?
You can probably rent one from a local auto parts place... shouldn't be more than $5 or $10 that way...
To purchase, its $30-50 depending on local retail prices.
i rented my puller for $15 but i just never took it back. figured id need it again some day
