That flange in the trunk... I got some bondo longhair fiberglass gell. could i just take out that flange and fiberglass it shut? If so what else would i need to do to get the glass to stick? Should i get some mesh to put in there to stiffen it up? I would like to get this done asap. A shop was going to charge me 50 to weld a peice of metal there.

i have no clue what your talkin' about
If you lift the carpet in the trunk on the passenger side there is a flang like thing in the fender well. It is letting water into my trunk.

ok, just scuff it down, and slap some fiberglass over it, call it a day

would I need anything to fill in the hole that taking out the flange would make? I would be a good 5"x3" hole in the side of the car.

Just fill it in, wood, silicon, duck-tape, fiberglass, metal all will work the same and eliminate all that water from coming in.

youll notice after you do that itll be harder to shut your doors , and trunk when the windows are closed
Get a new vent and some silicone and put it in. Problem solved. No having to close it off with fiberglass. And you won't have problems closing your doors. It is there so that the air has a way to escape when you close your doors. Makes it easier to close. Same with the trunk. Trust me it actually works like that LOL.
anyone know the part # for that? I have a junk yard up here but its not a pull-it-yourself place. put it this way... they wanted $70 for the power window switch in a 99 cav.
