I'm looking for what I think they call a dash cap. I remember seeing them on one of those car repair shows on TV, It looks like a semi-rigid plastic cap that fits over the stock padded vinyl. I think this would be an easy way to 'glass my dashboard. I've looked around but nener found one for a 1990 sunbird.

it will be easier to just glass the dash itself
yeah i seen that on a show.. two guys garage, hot rod, shade tree mech, something like that. for me i guess it's like putting slip covers over your seats and calling them racing seats? but to each his own i guess. Try doing a search on the above t.v. shows i.e. www.twoguysgarage.com they might not sell it but might have the catalog on where to get them good luck

I think you missed my idea, I want to use the cap as the mold to actually make a 'glass dash.If they are a rigid Plasic it would be WAY easier to glass this "cap" than to try to glass my warped dash pad I have now.

Those things don't fit properly so if you get one to make a mold out of for your dash you are gonna be dissapointed and last I heard they don't make them for our car. They only make a carpet cover for the top of the dash.
yeah i missed the point sorry.. but the cover that your talking about is made out of polyuathane plastic and it would be more work making screw tabs and glassing then just going to a wrecking yard and find another dash.( year one) might have what you need (dash or dash cap)
