when you remove stock wheel and add an aftermarket wheel can you still use horn and if so do you remove the wire from the air bag unit? when you remove stock wheel what do you do with the air bag coil with the yellow wire, just cut it off?
why would you cut the coil off, it simply has a retainling clip that holds it on lol. Pair of needle nose in the holes of the clip, apply pressure outwards & it comes right off. But hey cut if you like doing things the hard way....
okay i pulled the coil off and it has two wires attaching it to the coil. it looks like its a connector but it doesnt seem to be pulling out. did everyone get this to come out or did you guys just cut the wires and tape them up? chances are the stock wheel wont ever be going back in, but if i can keep it all together without cutting wires i'd prefer that route.

There are two sets of wires off the coil, both with connectors & pull tab locks on them. I doubt you are trying to pull a connector apart without removing the different colored locking tab but if so that's the problem. The connectors will come apart, but not if that locking tab is still there.
ok i pulled and pulled tried to seperate the clips and found out the hard way that it isnt a clip it just keeps the wires together nice and neat, until i broke it, the wires go right into the coil so after some swearing i cut them, but now im worried about them getting tangled when i turn the wheel. lol
should have followed that wire down the column a little ways as there is a clip, just not right at the coil. 6-10" or so down the line there was a clip. Obviously when it was built they had no intention of having to destroy the wiring every time the part was to be removed...
what all do u need to pull a steering wheel from a 3rd gen?
^^^get a steering wheel puller, and go to town.
