Anyone paint a shift boot?

My shift boot is ripping, and want to replace it with a new GM one, but hate the crappy gray. I've painted my interior black, and was wondering if anyone has had any luck painting their shifter and emergency brake boots.

you couldn't paint it. you should be able to dye it though with vinyl die, same stuff people use on their vinyl dashes.

Or you could just buy a black shift boot off a website like... jcwhitney or summitracing they have shift boots and they might be little cheaper than gettin one from gm...

Around how much does it cost to have an upholstry shop die a shift boot and an E-Brake boot? Also how much would it cost to do it yourself and is it a pain?

either just buy new ones. WAY easier. or as mentioned have a set made at an upholstery shop. another easy solution. as for dying them. you can do it yourself. just go to an autoparts store like napa or something and its in a spray can. not sure if they have a sock bath type. never cared to find out.
