After u swap a non-tach cluster for a tach cluster, how do u get the new one to read the same mileage? and why does the car shut off when I start it with the new cluster?
the car shuts off because you need to reprogram the passlock.
here are the directions, taken straight from the interior FAQ
1. Start the car and let it die. The theftlock light will be on, DO NOT TURN THE KEY OFF, OR OPEN ANY DOORS, OR TURN ON ANY ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT. Just fold your hands under your arms and wait 10-15 minutes...
2. After the car stalls, the theftlock light will blink. wait until it stops blinking.
3. Wait 1 minute after it stops blinking.
4. Turn the key to off, wait 10 seconds, then start the car again.
You may have to do this 3 times for it to work correctly.
aye tis a bitch, bring a ipod and a few beers for the wait.
The mileage should come up correctly since it's not stored in the cluster itself.

And for the people that actually sit in the car when they do this cause of those instructions, here is something for you to do next time. Open the window, close the door. Lean in and then do all the instructions from the comfort of the outside of your car. LOL
gotta stick then you have to be in reaching in to the clutch and the key could be a bitch.
When I did mine, I did the steps, opened the door, went inside, ate some food, came back out did it the second time, opened the door, closed the door, went inside, ate some more food, came back out and did it the third and final time, opened the door, closed the door, went inside and watched some tv, came back out and it started.
I didn't have to leave the doors alone or anything.
