Wiring question
Thursday, February 23, 2006 11:33 AM
A friend of mine is wanting me to hook up some neons under his dash (to light up the floor boards), which is no problem. What he wants is for them to come on with the other interior lights (dome and map lights) so that when he turns them on via the dimmer switch, they'll all come on and when he unlocks his car, the inside will glow.. which again is no problem, BUT, he'd also like them on seperate switch in case he wants to turn JUST the under-dash lights on. I'm sure it's a simple wiring job, but I'm not sure what type of switch I need to get or where to tap into the wires on the dimmer switch.

TIA to anyone who can help.

I would say just wire them to the lights under the dash, then check to make sure that they work with the interior lights, then you'll have to get a seperate power supply and then make all the connections like you normally would. But that's a cool idea to do, I might have to do it my self.

I posted this same question a few days ago. I'm putting cathodes under the dash and LEDs in the vents and map pockets. I was given a few nice diagrams on how to hook them up and from where. Check the thread titled "Cathode Wiring" might help you out. I know it helped me.

Actually it's called "Wiring Cathodes and LEDs" the thread is on the second page of the interior forum.
