Aftermarket auto shift knob problem
Saturday, February 25, 2006 9:31 AM
just wondering if anyone else has had this problem....i have an 04 cav auto and installed an aftermarket shift knob on it about a year ago in the last year i've had to re-tighten the thing because it i guess slips and it won't go into park ..so i take it off adjust and no problem....lately it happens more and more....i'm sick of it so went back to the oem one...and actually the more i look at the oem one that came with the 04's i like it better than anything now with my carbon fiber and billet interior.....pieces.......well guess wanted to vent with my frustration and was wondering if anyone else has had this problem...i'm bored...lol....

gettin out of the house now...lol

thanks

I have the same problem, but it doesn't bother me too much because I love my shift knob and will never get rid of it . I keep the little allen wrench in the center console so when I need to loosen or tighten the shift knob it's nearby for easy access.

When I first got my auto shift knob, it would loosen up. Only did that for a couple months. Works great now. Haven't had any problems with it in over a year.

i had that happen once so i pulled it off, put loctite on the allen screws and it has never happened again in 3 years.

You got me thinking about putting the stock shift knob back on, so I did and I agree. I rest my hand on it too while I'm driving and it's much more comfortable. Plus I just installed a shortened shifter and the aftermarket handle sat way too low .
