sry if this is in the wrong section, but i have a question about the window switch controls in the center console. How do you get the stock bulb out? I want to put a different color in.

if you have a 99 - older, then i dunno, but all younger ones, you can't.........
you can't just take the bulb out, and replace it...... you have to completly dissasemble the switch, solder on a new bulb, and put the swicth back together.......... amd if youre not cerefull, you will burn up the relay....

if i want to do that, will i need to solder a tiny resistor to the led or is there any led already made for 12V?

The LED's that replace the factory automotive bulbs have the resistors built in, whereas normal LED's don't if I'm not mistaken.

I've never taken my switch apart so I have no clue how big the bulbs are. As buzz said, they are probably solder'd on which means it's a special type of bulb. If it's anything like the cluster bulbs in the 00+ clusters then you'd have to get some 3-5mm led's to solder in and wire up a resistor for them. Not worth it imo.

and, no it wasn't just replacing the bulb thats in there........ and it's a PITA to get to in the first place.......
Currently i'm trying to find a place that i can get a few swicthes from so i can get them done in a couple of different colors, and just sell them as replacments, but with a core charge........

what size bulb did you put in there?
Personally, i use 5mm LED's...... but thats a personal opinion, i'm not sure on how well somekind of replacement bulb would do in there.........

NEwayz...... so i just arranged to get 3-5 window switches, hopefully by this weekend, or monday, so i can build a couple up in different colors, and be able to send those out if anyone is interested in doing the mod, but do not want to loose the use of the windows for a few days.

If you have any connections at a dealership I think I had to give my brother-in-law like $37.00 to get me a new switch when mine crapped out. That was cost plus 10% what he had to pay for it.
UPDATE:
So heres the deal, i found out that all those swicthes are the same, from 95-2005, well at least thats what one junkyard said.......... i beleive the top switch buttons may differ a bit, but the guts themselves are the same, same goes for the sunfires.
As far as doing the core thing, i found a place FINNALY, thats got plenty of them, but they are asking $30 a piece........ so, i guess if anyone wants, i can go pick some up, you send me core charge, and i make you a different colored swicth !!!
Then, when you you pay $40, and i send you this switch, and when you send me your's back, i refund you $30 for the core charge !! Yeah, i know, sounds confusing !!! Basically, for the price of $40 and you old swicth, you can too have a differently lighted power window switch. BTW, free shipping.
