Need Help ASAP
Wednesday, April 12, 2006 3:59 PM
i'm taking my car to a dealership tomm for a trade in on an RSX st 9:00 AM eastern(sorry guys! moving up..). i cant get the interior lights to turn on. they crapped out on me like 2 days ago and i need this fixed asap.i cant seem to find the problem.

its all the interior lights except the Head Unit cause its aftermarket. no ac, cluster, nothing. its like driving in darkness.

i dont think it has any effect, but my tranny was dropped like 6 months ago and i lost my lights. i took it to another mechanic cause the guy had no idea what he was doing and after my tranny was fixed, my lights worked again. now i had to take my tranny for servicing again and i lost my lights. on the transmission board, someone said it might be a common grounding problem... how would i check that.

please respond ASAP, as i have so many things to fix in this car tonight before tomm so i can get the most amount of money for it.

another thing, when i try to turn them on, the LEDs i have in the AC vents turn on briefly and then crap out in less than a second so it looks like it wants to turn on and cant.

Check the fuses would prolly be a starting point.
Maybe check your BCM and see that everything looks connected.

twist the dimmer switch?..lol
Theres a fuse if forgot which one its a 10
it could be blowing because behind your deck is a dimmer wire which is most likely grounding out.
more then likely a fuse tho

Its the fuse under the hood i believe its a 40 amp its a big orange one. I had the same problem a while back, and ripped the car apart checking all the wires with a DMM. Just to find out it was the fuse all along. So check your fuses first before doing anything

all the fuses are alright. the first couple of days when it happened, when i turned my lights on they'd stay on for like 3 or 4 minutes and then shut off. if i turned the car off and turned it back on, then it'd work again for 3-4 minutes and then crap out. i'll double chk my fuses and remove my head unit. to see if anything is bare back there.

i also notice that something whines for half a second when they try to turn on. its like they want to, but cant for some reason. i double cheaked all of the fuses, they're all fine. PWR Acesories was blown, but i changed that and its fine.

maybe this has somethig to do with it? i think my head unit and dome lamp share the same power wire, so when i close my door and the light fades out, i hear it through my speakers. i was going to fix that tomm. the dome light still works though.. as do my headlights, its the the lights on the intrior side. if i cant get this wto work, i'll just end up buying a relay and having them turn on with the headlights.

i r sad

still no lights. if i have the lights on, and i turn the car off, it looks like it tries to turn on again. they blink and then turn off. same when i turn them on. any other ideas? it seems like all of the wires to the bcm are in working order.

just the stock alarm and keyless entry, which is also not working anymore. i hit the unlock button or lock button and all i hear is clicking from around the bcm area. the alarm will arm and disarm itself, but the locks stay where they are.

holy smoking batmat. i went to try and fix it again and my remote entry is working. it had like 5 months that it wasnt working and you ask if it works, i go and check it out, and it works. i didnt do anything to it. maybe when i was fiddling with the BCM to check for loose wires i fixed it. i wish i knew what was worng with it, but i'm not complaining.

Check your relays and the connections to the relays. I'm pretty sure they are just taped to the wires up in there. Also, ur BCM might just be bad or you have a bad ground but IDK where the ground for it is.
