I am in the process of beginning to paint my dash piece that goes around the steering column, radip, gauge cluster, etc. And I havent found any write up's pertaining specifically for the dash, and I want to know what kind of paint will work good and not crack over time, any input would be appreciated.
Well, there are a couple of different options.
1. You can use vinyl dye and apply it directly to the dash.
2. You can tear the vinyl off the dash to reveal plastic like the rest of your interior, prep and paint it.
3. You can tear the vinyl off and fiberglass it, but this is not nedessary if you are just repainting it.
Do some searching and you should get some suggestions.

thanks for the help, do you know of a general place to get vinyl dye? I didnt realize the pice was vinyl, I thought it was just plastic
vinyl dye can be bought at any autozone, advance auto, pep boys, and even walmart. most any place with car stuff should have it

Ok, so Im totally not trying to be a dick or anything, but I think the way I stated my question at first was confusing. I wasnt talking about the top dash cover, thats where the air bag is, etc etc. That is vinyl, the piece im talking about is the one right under the steering wheel, where the cigarette lighter is, and the roll knob to control lights. That is plastic, so what paint will work good on that without cracking?
