i wasnt sure where to post it, so since the gas gauge IS inside the car, i posted it here.

Mine moves around alot when i put the car into park, it can move from 1/4 tank up to 1/2, i have had it move from 2/4 up to full before. odd

Sounds like the Fuel Gauge Sending Unit. This is the float in the gas tank sending an irattic signal to the gauge causing the needle to fluctuate.

mine does the same thing from time to time..

here's a clip of when ir really was fking up

click pic

it got to the point where it went all the way under the temp. gauge

with time it fixes it self

this was the only time i took my needles and moved them back to default

then reset the cluster

and its happend again a handful of times

but it ususally fixes itself after a few days (i keep a full tank)

and no i havent taken it to the dealer b/c most times they are @$$'s

and also b/c i have alot of LEDs back there..lol

huh
so would this be normal, depending on how u drive? would the gas slosh around in the tank and cause it to drop or rise? cuz i can be known to drive a little... erratic
lol

Or when you are idling, it is a release of excess fuel in the lines back into the tank to maintain pressure.

Normal...happens all the time, abou 3-4 millimeters in either direction, once you stop and put it in park.

I told you to go to Tom Benson. They will take care of you. If you have any problems with them call me.

there is a certin chemical (dont remember the name)you add to your tank to help clean off the "plate" that reads your fuel level, it gets corroded overtime from additives they put into fuel, causing bad/jumpy readings.

this happened to my car (04 cav) i've been back and fourth with the dealership for about a month before they finally found the prob.

they replaced the BCM.

they replaced the sender unit (dropping the gas tank), and a bunch of other stuff, reprogrammed the BCM, and finally replaced it which did the trick.

my guage would eratically go up and down, the low fuel light would come on, etc.. finally the headache is fixed

yeah i think my sending units fudged too, but it stays stuck on full till its actually on empty then it starts bouncin around. im told its prolly a wire from the sending unit, hopefully not the sending unit itself (knock on wood). i would try this chemical first before checkin my wires.

Mine does this as well but only when I park the car.... also reads gas oddly from time to time. THe last tank it went to 1/2 upon only travelling 160km and then stayed there until 250km before it moved again... End result in tank was around 400km.... Which is usually what I average per tank. 450 would be nice once in awhile with gas prices these days...

However I filled up last night on my way home from visiting a family member and its almost at 200 at the 3/4 full mark.... Driving me nuts...
