dashboard fornt piece

i have a 1999 chevy cavalier and the front dashboard piece is all messed up. it has like 5 cracks in in from the sun....i heard that all cavaliers do this...i also heard that there is a fiberglass piece that goes on over the stock one...what can i do about that piece so it isnt cracked? any suggestions???
