make sure you disconnect the battery and leave it for about 15 minutes, and also pull the fuse for the air bags. and you'll need a steering wheel puller which you can rent for free from any autozone or advanced auto.
if you need deeper details, feel free to email me. ill be online all night

i have the same question. i went to get the instrument cluster for my sunfire interior swap. it's the last part i need and i couldn't get the air bag off to pull the wheel off!!! i couldn't even see the screws that hold it on so i took a guess. the bit i used seem to fit, (star shaped) but the handle to use it is too long. and i looked in my haynes book, it didn't mention what tool to use. in the pic it looked like a really small rachet. is that the right one? or should i be using something else?
thanks in advance
get a T-15 or T-20 torx bit (i forget which size it is) used for a hand bit driver and put it into a socket and ratchet thats how i did mine

Aw but that's not nearly as fun, lol. Yeah make sure you do it the safe way.

i think that's the bit i used. i was just trying to use the driver for it. i'll try the socket and rachet. hoping to get it friday. of course they're calling for rain this weekend so putting it in might have to wait.
and i'm not keeping it off, i'll be putting it back on, so i guess i don't need a simulator.
