how clear is fiberglass itself when it dries?...im asking cause im thinking of doing a wall and i want to do a layer...lay a decal in there and then put another layer on top and was wondering if it would be clear enough to see the decal

It is not that clear. It is kinda this brownish color. You could probably lay the decal in your layer of fiberglass, then clearcoat over the top.

yea i doubt you would be able to see much of it after the fiberglass drys. maybe take it to a glass shop and see if they can etch it into some glass or maybe plexiglass.

Actually I have done this before, as long as its only one layer you can see through it really well and its pretty cool looking.

Fiberglass resin color will vary depending on the brand of fiberglass you use. check out uscomposites.com they will have resin that will dry clear. its what they use when doing carbon fiber. and remember your going to want to paint any piece before you put the sticker on

You are MUCH better off just painting this on and then clear coating it smooth.

your going to have to get speacial fiberglass for this, because standard fiberglass resins have a tint. so just make sure you get the right kind or your painted piece will be off because now it will be tinted to the resins color.
