Ok.. im rewrapping alot of my interior(dash, headliner, rear dash, console lid, & door panel armrests) with black cloth. Now i got a nice 2yds of extra material i want to use up. Is it possible to mold cloth? to make a trunk carpet? just like how it is in our cars somewhat molded to hold a shape while in our trunks. Just curious if anyone has tried this and if u have any tips on it or if it can even be done? the trunk carpet will be the only thing for interior not black which also kinda bothers me..
Yes, I was wondering the same thing, I have about 4 yards of black vinyl, and it would drive me nuts having everything that except for the trunk carpet.
^yeh but would there be anyway i could just make it where i dont need the old trunk lid carpet in there with it? opposed to just carefully putting the cloth around that. I guess that might be my only choice tho..

Don't know if this would work, but it's what I might do. Cover the top of the vinyl or cloth so you dont wreck it(with tape or something else. Then tape or glue(if you dont need the old carpet) your vinyl piece to the bottom of the carpet to get the shape of it. Once this is done, maybe you can find some sort glue or something to apply to the back of the vinyl which will allow it to keep it's shape once it dries.
Or you could use the carpet and make a mold of it out of say fiberglass and cover it. But I think that would be more work and more problems than just covering the carpet. Good luck.
Wide Body Progress
You can buy Fabric Hardener at linen stores and maybe even commercial stores like Wal-Mart, Meyers, K-mart, and so on. It's a very thin liquid and dries clear. My guess is you can remove the piece you want to shape from your car, coat them with the hardener, then drape your fabric over the coated piece, and then press out the bubbles and creases, finally allow it to dry and get it's shape. However, this is only a guess of what may work. Experiment with it.
Woooo bubbies.
You could either cover the stock liner and use spray adhesive to do it, or there's the hard way of making a fiberglass panel and covering that. Either way you're wrapping it in the cloth you want to use. Given the two options I'd say wrap the stock liner. Or maybe just dye it black. It's about five bucks for a can either way.
