Where is MAP sensor on a J-body?
Thursday, May 25, 2006 11:15 AM
I'm asking in here because it's an Interior appearance issue.

I wanna buy one of the billet covers for this part that MRZ sells, but I need to know where it is so I can picture whether its worth it to spend 45 bucks or not...

Pic would be great!

Thanks

Um... the MAP sensor is Manifold Air Pressure, an engine sensor... its under the hood, not in the cabin.

I KNEW that

it's still an interior part since it's enclosed by the hood, bumper and fenders.

NOT an Exterior question...not really Performance-related.

If you know what it is and where do you suppose you could simply TELL me?

Its attached to a vacuum line coming off the throttle body.

The MANIFOLD Air Pressure sensor is connected to the intake MANIFOLD not the t/b, it couldn't possibly measure manifold pressure through the t/b.

The sensor is attached to the t/b but the hose coming from the sensor is in fact leading to the manifold.
not trying to be a smart-ass or anything & not stepping on toes

Wanna bet? There are a number of vacuum ports on the TB that are after the TB plate, which provide the same amount of vacuum as the manifold. On the Eco I believe, last I checked, it was connected to one of these vacuum ports. On the 2.4, it is connected to a nipple under the tb on the plenum.
