Does anyone know if there has been a write up on installing a short shifter? any tips maybe?
thanks
have an 02 Cavalier
I paid to have mine done...starting at 9 o'clock pm on Wednesday after working a 10 hour day is a bad idea....
i did mine at my dorm at about 9ish at night...ppl thought we were stealing and parting out cars when i walked into my dorm with the whole shifter assembly =P its not really that hard, the hardest part was getting the main pivot retainer out without breaking it (the circular one) took me like a full half hour just for that

Could always goto eVay and buy the shifting assebly and prebuild it, then just swap it.
I think I remember seeing the assembly for like 29.99 plust shipping.
or
Junk Yard, that way if you break that, use parts from the on in the car to fix it.
the hardest part for me was just drilling out the 4 corners of the shifter so i could removed the post

Depends on the year of the car.
I believe 00-05 J-Body dont require any driling while 95-99 did.
what kind of grease would you recommend for this mod? lithium? regular? i think i still have some left over from my bearings maybe that stuff?
thanks again guys

yea i was having trouble wording it. once you get the whole shifter assembly out of the car, there are 4 rivets on each corner of that plastic piece that sits under the shifter. you have to drill them out to fully disassembly the whole thing.
i also have a 98 so that could be different. i noticed on ww how-to his was different looking
