I know ther have been post after post of people showing off their new gauges, but I have to show them to somebody.
After 1 and 1/2 years of these very troublesome gauges: THE OLD CRAPPY ONES
Black Cat custom finally, after 4 months of waiting, sent me the new ones that should finally work right. I gave up on the blue, and changed the look just a little, and these were supposed to be white faced, not silver faced, but they sent me silver faced anyway, that was just another of Black Cat's little screw ups. I think they look pretty cool anyway. Plus lots of other people copied the old ones, they are not unique anymore. ^ ^
Night: THE NEW ONES
Day:
I do need everyone's opinion though. I also have the matching silver / orange glow HVAC cover and Fog light/dimmer cover. But I stil have the stock green glow stereo. Do you all think I should put in the matching Orange / silver panels, and have a radio that doesn't match, or just have the orange gauges and keep everythign else stock green?
simple and looks good but theres a little too much black imo ..needs the outer silver ring like the old ones

I agree now that I see them in person, they might look better with the outer silver ring, but too late now. They look awesome at night though. You can't really see it in this picture, but the whole silver inner part kinda reflects the light and has a really cool halo effect.
yeah i definately like the look at night, the orange is hott. i wish i had the money to do custom guages like that but instead im gettin 1 HOT Z's sunfire guages
...today actually

Blackcat is gonna do mine for me in the chrono with orange accents along with the hvac and dimmer too.
I'm curious though you say they screwed up? What happened? If I'm gonna give them almost 200 dollers I'd like to know any issues I may run into.
But yours sure does look good !

I like 'em but I think the numbers could be difficult to read at a glance.
What issues did I have with Black Cat? I origionally ordered my gauges in august 2004. I just now go properly workign ones. The first set he sent me started to flicker hardcore after 2 days(I drive alot at night through the middle of nowhere and the flickering really bothered me in the dark) , and a bunch of the LEDs stopped working. I talked to him and sent them back, 5 months later I got them back. Same deal, a week later the LEDs stopped working. I again sent them back. 8 months later he sent me new ones, that he had put together differently, and right out of the box some of the LEDs didn't work. But it was minor so I let it go. But soon they started to flicker again, so I said I would pay for a new design, not using blue LEDs. He told me it would take 2 weeks to do cause he was busy. over 4 months later I finally got these ones (again I ordered white faced, he sent silver faced) but whatever I have them now, they are fine. Alex was nice enough and very apoligetic, and had no problem fixing his work, but kept tellign me he'd send them in two days, or something ,and then just didn't do it.
I'm not saying don't buy from him, and everyone else seems to have had good service. I'd still say go for it, but I'm just a little irritated.
I e-mailed the guy on a price quote for those gauges, silver faced with blue lighting, and I never got a response . . .
I would say stay away from the blue LEd idea. You can't really dim them at night, the lighting has bright and dark spots, and he said some other people have had trouble with it too, especially if you live in a cold climate.
I'm only looking for the overlay parts so I guess they wouldn't be an issue sinse they don't light up right?
Damn it, and I was looking forword to new gauge faces but if he has issues that take years to get straightened out then regardless of how great a guy he is I'll not be doing business with him as I'm not into waiting years for the stuff I pay for.

JACKALOPE -Yea, like I told you, hes busy, and you have to stay on top of him on things from time to time. He will get them done, but you got to stay on top of it. If you dont get them when he says...CALL HIM!! -
I too have had my overlay go bad on mine, not his fault, but it took some time to get it done and taken care of. He said he was busy!
I got the led upgrade in the RED, not a good choice, looks like crap! - hot spots, cool spots all over it, good grief....It was a bad choice to do that upgrade.
Time to start of problem until finish ....um....maybe..45 days!
ECOTEC now with Maximum Bolt-Ons!!
He told me 1 to maybe 2 weeks tops for the faces and the dimmer and HVAC plate. IDK seems shady, he promisses something and then takes twice as long or more to deliver it and it has all these problem.
I'm thinking pass.

I'd have to go blue with the scheme of my car. I'm not too sure about the blue LED thing though. I used to have blue LED's in all my vents, and within a month or so every single one of them burned out. Not sure if it was because they were getting too hot (using the heat), or if they were staying too cold (since it was winter and they got cold over night). Not sure . . . I saw a post a couple months ago where soemone had the blue lights on theirs and it turned out really good, so not really sure.
Alex usually gives priority to the people that pre-pay their orders. Me and him were in talks of my GXP gauges and design for my GXP conversion from almost 2 months. He is now starting on them and I should have them in a week or so. Trust me he does premium work. Yes he is busy, he has been featured in a few car mags for his custom jobs and with the growing popularity of his work on the JBO he has been even more booked. If you are looking for something custom you need to let him do his magic. He will however send out his generic ones that he sells on his site as soon as possible. I have been talking with him for a while and I just gave him some breathing room with the project. Check out my thread to see my gauges.
GXP Conversion continues....
Does any one know if Blackcatcustoms will sell just the gauges with out the cluster? and if so for how much?

wow holy post from the dead. Glad you did a search though.
What do you mean by gauges only? Just the face? Sure check his site, they range from $75 - $105 depending on gauge years and what "stock" or "custom" style you choose.
