well Ive been having problems with my seatbelt locking up and not wanting to come out, so I cant wear it at certain times. it seems to just happen randomly. im driving normal, get out of the car, as soon as the seatbelt rolls in, it gets locked and I cant get it out. its already happened to me like 3 times this week. any ideas on what could be causing the problem? or better yet, can anyone tell me where/how/why does it lock up? is there any way to disable it? thanks in advance
you may take the cover off and see if there is something sticking in the retractor mechanism. the belt may be rolling off to one side as it rolls back up.

^^ thanks ill be sure to try that. but the thing is it feels like thats the way its designed, i amy be wron though. like maybe the ABS, or when I do something in my car that makes it lock itself..... I say this because my passenger side has locked a few times before too, not as much asthe drivers side though..
this has been happening to me on my passanger side, just cruising down the road and all the sudden the person in the passenger seat cant lean forward. i would be interested in how to fix this.
Unfortunately I can't help either.. I'm having the same exact problem as Z24baLler.. My passenger one either locks the person in tight (not a big person either!) or is a total pain in the ass to pull out. But NOT all the time. For me I'd say 75%. Would love to get that fixed myself.
replace the retractor..................................it takes like 5 mins and $$$ for the parts..
.........this is a pretty comon problem at the dealership i work at....................
Mne did it all the time too!!! My idea of a good fix, just yank out the belts and put in race harnesses. Course ya still can't lean foreward, lol
and you need a rollcage or a harness bar
My passenger side probably locks 50% of the time. Hit the plastic piece under where the seatbelt slides into (the top opening), and it should unlock. Also slamming the door works sometimes, but it will always unlock if I give the plastic a good tap.

Would this be considered an "under warranty" repair. I have that problem on my 03 Fire on passenger side. I still have 4 months component and am making a BIG ass list for them to fix.
Got lots so far. I love my fire for the most part but I have had $8000.00 work on it. ( under warranty of course). Everything from seats to A/C to headliner etc etc.
