Ok so I don't actually know the name of it but I am talking about those keychains (mazda, vw) where you press the button on the keychain and your key flips out of a little almost case looking thing. Can you get those for a cav like get one and then get the key cut?
i think so. i think i saw blanks a long time ago, but i can't remember where. sorry i'm not really being very helpful lol i do think you can get them made though
Yeah, I have been looking for a blank one with just the key, not with the buttons. All I have found so far are
these and they aren't that good looking. I just want a plain one.
Or I wonder if you could just program a key like this (even though it is audi) if you took it to a dealer? Do you think they could do it? That would be even sweeter than just a plain flip out key (or aka switchblade key).
those plain ones aren't bad looking I wonder if the symbol comes off... another issue I was wonderin about is the ignition itself has those two little humps ( one on each side where the key goes in. Wouldn't that stop these flip keys from working (because it wouldn't be able to slide in all the way).
^^I think they take care of those line things you are talking about when you have the key cut to fit your vehicle or whatever.
I just found this on ebay and its for chevy's
You think this one could work?
Switchblade Key
I also just found a post on a VW website of a guy who makes them so I'm gonna look into that too. Is there anyone else that is interested in this as well?
that is actually pretty cool but again do those two humps where the key goes in come into play?
I just looked at that one a little closer is that one just a cover for a normal key?
No, its a full key replacement. Operates like a standard butterfly knife.
u kno what? i'm sure u can get a mazda one and program it to ur system now. but the keys are very expensive. the new mazda speed 6 have this little flat key fob and the key slides out kinda cool but expensive. how do i kno? b/c i work at a mazda dealership
Tila Tequila? PPSSSSSHHH she's got nothing on me, except i'm not a porn star. and that's ok.
thats the thing though my doors are shaved already so I wouldn't need to unlock and lock it and my car alarm remote already has the trunk release I just want one with a key that flips
i'd be totally interested

I just emailed the guy to see if he knows why it wouldn't work with the Cavaliers. maybe he has something that will.

now if we where to take the key tag from a wrecking yard, would we be able to just swap out the blade key part, or order a blank and have it cut? if its possible i can get my hands on 2 or 3.

I'm sure we could get our hands on blanks but for myself anyways all I want is a flip key I don't want a remote on it as well just the flip key
what about that link I showed above with the malibu key it says its made for pretty much every chevy there is except for the cav but the key is a blank. Wouldn't that work?
I personally would like something that looks better though
^^^ I emailed that guy and he said no. I emailed him back asking him if he could get one that would work for a J-body. I'm waiting on a response.

How much would it cost to get one of the mazda keys programmed. Unless theres one with the remote that can pop the trunk to.
I don't think it would be very cheap to get the mazda one programed they cost quite a bit themselves as it is.
